Students Team-up with DNR
A group of middle school students in Madison Heights are helping to restore salmon populations in Michigan with the help of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Their school, Four Corners Montessori Academy participated in a program that allows students to raise and care for salmon in the classroom and release them into the wild. The students received salmon eggs and watched them hatch and grow. They learned about the impact invasive aquatic life have had on salmon populations in their natural habitat. Having this hands-on experience gave the students real-world experience to help them understand the impact they can have on their local ecosystems.
