Trickle’s Trip
BEGIN
Hi, I’m Trickle, I’m falling as rain over a neighborhood
I fell in a rain puddle
Hi, I’m Trickle
I live in a neighborhood
All this water has to go somewhere
Oh look, a storm drain
Runoff from rain, lawn sprinklers, yard work, irrigation, and recreation can all end up going down a storm drain
Guess that means me too!
Yuck, it sure is polluted down here
Storm drains are supposed to be just for water
But all sorts of bad stuff ends up down here
Litter can get washed into stormwater drains
Uh oh, here comes some pollution
This does not belong down here
What’s this, oil?
That’s dangerous!
Look at all these underground pipes, I wonder what they all do...
Some houses get their water from a well
Water is used everywhere in our homes
Down the drain I go, back into the water cycle
And fertilizer from lawns and agriculture too?
I’m getting filthy! I’m polluted
Back to the clouds I go!
Hi, I’m Trickle, I live in a neighborhood
Stormwater drains empty into waterways
They take in water from reservoirs, lakes and waterways
That’s a water treatment plant
And so does the pollution that comes along with it
Water is filtered and disinfected, making it safe to drink
And some houses get treated water from underground pipes
We drink it and cook with it
We wash with it
And we use it for fun and recreation
I’m falling!
