Stream Team Spring Monitoring Field Day
May 3 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Free
Spring is around the corner, which means we’re gearing up for our annual Stream Team Spring Monitoring field day on Saturday, May 3rd at 10 a.m.
If you want to support your river, Stream Team is for you! We host water quality monitoring events every spring to gather data used for monitoring and conservation efforts. From donning waders and using nets, to peering through microscopes, Stream Team volunteers help track the health of our rivers.
Join us as we dig into streams and rivers to search for aquatic insects. Macroinvertebrates are aquatic insects and other small bugs that live in rivers and streams. Each species of macroinvertebrate tolerates pollution differently. Some are sensitive to pollution, such as mayflies, so finding them is a good thing. It means our waters are not only healthy enough to support them, but also healthy enough to support us.
Volunteers can participate in or out of the water and may borrow our waders. Families are welcome and no experience is needed.
