Stewardship Series: Invasive Species Tips & Tricks

September 6 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

This guided hike and informational workshop is a free event that aims to educate participants on identifying and effectively treating invasive species in their own yards. Led by local Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA) organizations, the event includes a hike of our new Nelson Woods property to identify invasive plants while seeing firsthand native restoration efforts made by Little Forks Conservancy. Attendees will gain hands-on knowledge and resources to remove non-native species from the environment successfully, while learning about how their local CISMAs can assist them. Attendees should dress accordingly for the weather and hiking outdoors.

Presenters will include CISMA coordinators for the Central Michigan CISMA (CM-CISMA) serving Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella and Midland counties as well as the Saginaw Bay CISMA (SB-CISMA) serving Arenac, Bay, Huron, Saginaw, Sanilac and Tuscola counties.

This event will be held on Monday, September 16th from 6 to 7:30 PM at our newest acquired property, Nelson Woods.

Parking & Directions: Nelson Woods is located off Solomon Road, off of Sandow Road, on the corner of Solomon and Glen road. From M-20, turn north onto Sandow Road for about a mile until turning right onto Solomon road. Attendees can park along the road – Solomon or Glen- and a LFC staff member will be waiting at the trailhead to lead attendees into the preserve.
