Shiawassee River National Water Trail Cleanup
Headwaters Trails is again asking for help to open the Shiawassee River for the upcoming paddling season, from Holly to the Walnut Hills Campground in Durand, both cutting downed trees that are blocking river passage and picking up trash. The group leaders are experienced in doing cleanups that meet with the approval of the MDNR, so participants do not need to be experienced to join us. They will need a kayak or other boat or pair up in another helpers boat. The cleanup dates are 5/17 and 5/18.
Help keep our beautiful river clean and navigable for paddling by working to remove river blockages and trash along the course of the river from Holly to Byron.
