Cedar River Stream Monitoring—Leader & Collector Training – Gladwin City

August 23, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Get certified to lead volunteers or collect macroinvertebrates for the Stream Monitoring Program on the Cedar River!

About this event

Attend this training to become a group leader or macroinvertebrate collector for our biannual samplings of the Cedar River.

As a leader you will coordinate a group of volunteers, making sure they get to their sampling site. You will also be responsible for filling out data sheets and keeping track of time.

As a collector, you will suit up in a pair of waders, get in the river, and sample a variety of river habitats for macroinvertebrates.

At this training, you will learn how to identify the different sampling environments, how to fill out our datasheets, macroinvertebrate sampling techniques, and more! The training will take place outside and include a field portion at Gladwin City-North Park Boat Launch, which will involve getting into the river.

If the event is cancelled due to weather, then it will be rescheduled for August 30th at 6pm.
