SUMMARY:Three Ponds Trail Improvement and Trash Clean Up
DESCRIPTION:Since protecting the Three Ponds preserve in 2021\, the Little Forks Conservancy has been committed to improving this property for wildlife habitat\, water quality and public recreation. Earlier this spring\, the Conservancy added a parking lot for improved preserve access. You can help us further enhance this green space for our communities by helping us improve the existing trails and remove trash! \nWhat we’ll be doing: Volunteers will help to refine the trail at Three Ponds through cutting back vegetation with loppers and handsaws\, shaping earth on trail surfaces with various trail tools\, and installing signage. Volunteers will also help to remove trash from the road side\, along the ponds and trails. This event is recommended for ages 10 and up. \nWhat to bring: Gloves\, water\, safety glasses\, and loppers or handsaws are recommended. We will be working outside in shrubs\, tall grasses and brush\, so please dress accordingly for the event and weather. Closed toed shoes are required and long pants are recommended. Little Forks Conservancy will also provide additional tools\, bug spray\, safety vests and trash bags. \nLocation and time: Three Ponds located at 2739 W North Union Rd\, Midland\, MI 48642. This event will be held on Wednesday\, August 13 from 9am-12pm. \nDirections: Volunteers will meet at the preserve parking lot\, located east of Midland on West N. Union Rd. across from the Perry Creek Townhomes\, just east of the US-10 overpass. A LFC staff member will be waiting at the parking lot to direct volunteers.
