SUMMARY:Wetlands for Landowners: Recognizing\, Understanding\, and Caring for Wetlands on Your Land
DESCRIPTION:Wetlands provide valuable services for people and vital habitat for wildlife. Wetlands buffer flooding\, slow erosion\, and filter water\, contributing to higher water quality. Wetlands serve as essential breeding grounds for frogs and salamanders\, and harbor many beautiful and unique wildflowers\, including many species that are rare due to habitat loss and specialized environmental requirements. \nThis online workshop will introduce you to a range of wetland types found in Michigan\, to help you recognize which wetlands might occur on your land. We’ll explore why wetlands are important\, and how you can protect and manage your wetlands. \nThis workshop is free and open to the public. You will receive a zoom link via email upon completion of your registration. \nClick here to Register \nPresenter Bio: Jacqueline Courteau\, Ph.D.\, is an ecologist who has worked for Michigan Natural Features Inventory and was a lead developer of the Huron River Watershed Council’s Rapid Ecological Assessment for their Bioreserve Project.
